BLOOM BODIES is an organization founded in 2017 by Candace Jackson, a Detroit poet and educator. After working in several non-profits and schools throughout Detroit, she realized the need for greater access to resources and supportive/inclusive spaces in the community. With the help of a dedicated team of Detroit natives and supporters, BLOOM BODIES provides events and services that make resources for higher education, professional development, and literary arts more easily accessible. Our mission is to empower one another to break cycles (such as poverty, violence, addiction, etc.), access higher education and professional resources, and own our stories through poetry. Through educational programming and poetry, BLOOM BODIES provides a space to bloom as we unite against the injustices that impact our communities and empower one another to break cycles.
